Orthodontic Treatment for All Ages

Our practice is unique in the fact that we’re able to provide comprehensive dentistry and orthodontic treatment for patients of all ages, all in the comfort of one location. Whether your child needs phase 1 orthodontics or your teen is ready to step into adulthood with a straighter smile, we offer both traditional metal braces as well as clear aligners.
Orthodontic treatment can correct a patient’s bite and alleviate symptoms associated with a misaligned jaw, such as headaches, neck pain, and much more. Additionally, straighter teeth are often less likely to fall victim to tooth decay and gum disease while also providing more successful function. At Lake Hartwell Dentistry, we offer both traditional metal braces and other, more subtle treatment solutions for our patients.
Traditional Braces

Traditional metal braces are what most people picture when they think of orthodontics. This treatment involves using metal brackets that are attached to each of the teeth with a single archwire running through them to apply pressure to the teeth. Over time, our team will adjust the pressure to gently and strategically shift the teeth into their ideal alignment. This treatment is often recommended over clear aligners for patients who have more complex cases, like bite misalignment and severe crowding.
Clear Aligners

Our practice offers both 3M Clarity and SureSmile clear aligners to provide our patients with a more discreet and comfortable way to straighten their smiles. We can help you determine which brand is best for you at your consultation. With both brands, you can expect to wear your trays for about two weeks at a time before graduating to your next set of aligners. Once you reach the end of your treatment, our team will provide you with a retainer to help you maintain your results.
Phase 1 Orthodontics

When it comes to correcting growing smiles, we may recommend that your child starts orthodontic treatment before their jaws and gums have fully formed. That’s why our dentists will provide their first orthodontic-focused consultation around the age of seven.
By starting to treat these potentially significant concerns as soon as they appear, we can cut off problematic behavior like thumb-sucking and mouth breathing right away and even correct genetic problems like overbites, underbites, and excessively crowded teeth. Instead of having to reshape your child’s smile after it’s fully set in place, we can instead gently guide it into the proper positioning as they grow and thrive.
Once a young patient’s entire set of adult teeth has arrived, an additional phase of orthodontic treatment may be needed to maintain the correct alignment. Our team will be happy to work closely with parents from Royston and surrounding areas every step of the way through this important process.
